Best place to take to the water
Want to get your paddle on? Launch into the water on your paddleboard at the Gannel Estuary just an hour before high tide and head inland with the tide.
Start at Crantock beach
And head towards Trenance Boating Lake. As the tide turns, use the current to paddle back towards Crantock Beach.
15 minute drive from SeaSpace
Crantock has a National Trust car park and SUP's to hire if you don't have your own.
Grab a coffee @cargocoffeecafe or catch the water taxi across the river to head up the steps for lunch and views @fern_pit_cafe_and_ferry.
Or, park on Trevean Way road and use the slipway to access the river half way between Crantock and Trenance Boating lake.
Float your way up the River Gannel
Lie back and take in the views, paddle up the creeks and inlets and explore the river as far as the highest bridge. As the tide begins to turn, make your way back, make sure you get back to Crantock no later than an hour after high tide as the tidal estuary dries out quickly.
