Holiday your way – 5 reasons you should aparthotel this year

Planning your next trip and looking for something new? Seeking a place with loads to offer, where freedom reigns and your days play out to the beat of your own rhythm? Say hello to aparthotelling.

When you have the freedom to go your own way, stays are better, brighter, and altogether MAXED. So say adios to the reception desk, goodbye to breakfast calls at 8, and a big hello to finding your freedom. Aparthotels blend the best of self-catering with the perks of hotel-style stays, but until now they’ve mainly been found in European resorts or urban hot spots.

We’re here to change all that. A first for Cornwall, SeaSpace is ripping up the hotel rulebook for how to stay shoreside with a brand new aparthotel built on individual freedom and shared spirit. But what does that actually mean, and how can you max your holiday by aparthotelling this year?

Rule ripped: rooms are for sleeping, not living in

Yes, that king-sized bed is ripe for laying your head, but beyond those snug night hours, hotel rooms can’t offer much. Not true of an aparthotel. Here you’ll find a blank canvas to do your own thing. Kicking back in the laidback lounge area, gathering round the table for coffee, chats, card games (no cheating), and getting your cook on any time you please, this is your space to break your way, not just for shutting your eyes. With studios & apartments of all sizes for solo travellers, couples, families and even groups of friends bunking together and getting out there – SeaSpace sets you up with a true base of your own. But that’s not all. As an aparthotel, it’s about what’s served up alongside too – café, restaurant, play area, pool, gym, games room, all on tap whenever you want them. Best of both worlds, right?

Rule ripped: you eat when we’re ready

Great holidays are all about fantastic foodie experiences. But what do you do when hunger strikes before dinner service, the kids aren't down with the menu or you fancy doing your own thing? A good aparthotel means a good kitchen where you can whip up a quick dinner, or seize a chance to cook up the local produce you’ve been dying to try (check out some easy 10-minute recipes featuring hero Cornish ingredients). At SeaSpace our kitchens are spacious, design-led and fully-kitted – from pots and pans right down to potato mashers, so whatever you want to cook, you can. And don’t forget the essentials, always available from our self-service larder.

Want a break from serving up? At an aparthotel like ours, you’re all set. Do breakfast, brunch, and lunch right here in the SeaSpace café, or dig into Italian-American small plates from TALLO, our on-site restaurant that serves nothing but good vibes. Fancy a change of scene? Head into town and try an insta-famous sandwich from Stax or stop by House of Glass for some caffeine and croissants before hitting the beach. For delicious dishes and an authentic atmosphere, head to Counter Culture, while kids will love indulging in burgers and shakes at HERD.

Best of both? Order in. Tap into a tonne of great takeaways that deliver right to our door.

Rule ripped: stick to the kids’ club

Kids clubs are so last year. Why not embrace the freedom that comes with an aparthotel approach, where choice is yours and there’s plenty to do, but on your own terms. At SeaSpace kids get into running amuck in the games rooms and play areas, racing through the garden mazes and splashing in the indoor heated pool (plus an outdoor one for cooling off in summer); Find a base for the action, whether it’s out on the grounds or down by the shore, and let the kids discover the magic that comes with pure holiday freedom.

Rally the family for a pre-breakfast swim, explore secret coves and off-the-beaten-track spots, or tie the boards to the roof (hire soft racks from our on-site partners Wavehunters) and chase down the swell – 2025 is for opening the doors wide to family adventures.

Rule ripped: holidays = relaxing

We love a chilled break as much as the next guy (and if that’s your thing, our pool, hot tub and comfy lounge spaces have you covered). But sometimes, holiday time can be more than just downtime.

An aparthotel worth its salt puts you right in the heart of the action, with tips and hints of what’s on the doorstep to bring a different flavour to your break away.

At Seaspace we’re all about learning new skills and widening your horizons. Throughout the year we have workshops, happenings and making sessions with local talents primed to push your creativity someplace new and on our doorstep there’s plenty more to do too.

Head to Wedge Studio, with relaxed pottery sessions and holiday specials that tick all the boxes. Newquay Orchard is a hidden gem at the heart of our local community and only a minute's drive from SeaSpace. Their creative workshops, pop-up theatre nights and seasonal festivals throughout the year always draw a crowd and their calendar is packed with music, art and wellbeing workshops and sessions too.

Rule ripped: guests vs. locals

Bursting the bubble of you vs. them holidaying, aparthotelling puts you right in the community blender, too. We think that mixing with the locals brings more to your experience, with buzzing gathering spaces for locals and likeminds to kick back, connect and be inspired.

As one of the UK’s most creative surfside towns, whether you’re brushing shoulders in the buzzing café area with the laptop crew, taking tip-offs from the locals on where to head for guaranteed waves, or getting stuck into one of our vibrant happenings – think exhibitions, workshops and even gigs – we know tapping into a strong community spirit will make your break even better.
