Stay your way: why SeaSpace is more than a hotel in Cornwall
Space to tuck in. Space spread out. Space to discover. Space to cocktail, hot tub, swim, surf, adventure. Space to stay, work, mix, play and belong. Why does this stay feel so different? Because it is.
When it comes to breaks away, for many of us flex and freedom, style and substance are as important as service and standards. We want insight, ease and a sense of community that makes us feel like we belong. To be part of something, but also with the space and freedom to do things on our terms. And that used to be an impossible balance to strike – but not anymore. If you’re looking for a hotel with more to offer, where freedom reigns and your days play out to the beat of your own rhythm, you’re looking for SeaSpace.
A first for Cornwall, since we opened in 2024 SeaSpace has been ripping up the rulebook of what a hotel should be. Blending individual freedom with shared spirit in the design-led surroundings of a lifestyle hotel, this is a place for modern travellers who expect more from their break. But what does that actually mean?
More than a room
Yes, that king-sized bed is ripe for laying your head, but aside from snug night-time zzzs, hotel rooms can’t offer much. Not true of SeaSpace. Here you’ll find a blank canvas to do your own thing. Our studios, large studios and apartments are made for living, not sleeping. Kick back in the open-plan lounge area, stay in for drinks and games, make movie night a holiday thing, gather round the table for coffee and catch-ups or get your cook on any time you please in the fully-fitted kitchen: this is your space to do what you like with. SeaSpace studios & apartments come in all sizes for solo travellers, couples, families and groups setting you up with a true base of your own.
But that’s not all. Alongside private space to spread out, you have all the benefits of a design-led hotel, from daily sprucing to keep your space clean, to stellar breakfasts (in the café or brought to your room), open access to the gym and classes not to mention that oh-so Wes Anderson pool & ocean-view hot tub. Plus play area, games room, maze, nature trail, restaurants and the coast path right outside. It’s all yours, whenever you want it.
More than “dinner is served"
Great holidays are all about fantastic foodie experiences. But what do you do when hunger strikes before dinner service, the kids aren't down with the menu or you fancy doing your own thing? Being more than a hotel means every studio or room has a fully-kitted kitchen where you can throw together a quick dinner, or experiment with the local produce you’ve been dying to try (check out some easy 10-minute recipes featuring hero Cornish ingredients). Plus, if you’re short of supplies, our self service deli-larder will see you right.
Sometimes a lazy brunch in bed is what you’re looking for, sometimes it’s all about someone else doing the work. When you book at SeaSpace you can make sure breakfast is in the mix, or turn up as you please for a seat in the café and a sample of the menu that has guests and locals coming back for more.
From the smoothies building a cult following to expert barista coffee, matcha lattes, pancakes, eggs every way and pastries the size of your head, there’s a lot to love. Lunch is all kinds of crunchy, from kimchi salads to toasties with fries on the side, emphasising local flavours and provenance.
If you’re down for dinner in-but-out, SeaSpace’s Italian-American eatery Tallo is the place for vibes, cocktails, small plates and those iconic 20” pizzas you’ll want a snap with.
Fancy a change of scene? Head into town and try an insta-famous sandwich from Stax or stop by House of Glass for some caffeine and croissants before hitting the beach. For delicious dishes and an authentic atmosphere, head to Counter Culture, while kids will love indulging in burgers and shakes at HERD.
More than playtime for your kids
Kids clubs on limited times, in one room, are so last year. With more freedom comes more ways for them to play. An indoor games room, outdoor maze and play area where they can run amuck, padel taster sessions you can sign them up for, surf lessons that help them make the most of getting wet all promise high-energy and max fun. Find a base for the action, whether it’s out on the grounds or down by the shore, and let the kids discover the magic that comes with a bit more holiday freedom.
If your breaks are all about time together, there’s all sorts of joining in to be done. Creative workshops, seasonal trails, wildlife walks, beach cleans and more are regularly hosted from the SeaSpace cafe, or head out as your own tribe to explore secret coves, strike out along the coastpath footsteps away or strap the boards to the roof (hire soft racks from our on-site partners Wavehunters) and chase down the swell – 2026 is open wide for family adventures. Check out our 72-hour family edit for an itinerary packed with ideas.
More than chilled
We love a relaxing break as much as the next guy (and if that’s your thing, our pool, hot tub and laid back lounging spaces have you covered). But sometimes, holiday time isn’t just downtime.
SeaSpace puts you right in the heart of the action whenever you want it, with tips, hints and itineraries to bring a different flavour to your stay.
Throughout the year we have workshops, happenings and making sessions with local talents primed to push your creativity someplace new. Plus on our doorstep there’s plenty more to do too.
Head to Wedge Studio, with relaxed pottery sessions and holiday specials that tick all the boxes. Newquay Orchard is a hidden gem at the heart of our local community and only a minute's drive from SeaSpace. Their creative activities, pop-up theatre nights and seasonal festivals throughout the year always draw a crowd and their calendar is packed with music, art and wellbeing workshops and sessions too.
Or, if you’re in the market for a mind-expanding read, check out Clemo Books, where bookseller Jaimie cherry-picks the best books and hosts not-to-be-missed bookish events.
More than guests
Bursting the bubble of you vs. them holidaying, SeaSpace puts community first – making sure everyone feels like they belong. With buzzing gathering spaces for locals and likeminds to kick back, connect and be inspired, open-to-all wellbeing and fitness workshops and retreats with incredible partners (breathwork or somatics anyone?) padel socials, open mic nights and more, you’ll feel the neighbourhood energy and coastal spirit from the off, like you’ve always been part of it (and possibly never want to leave!)
As one of the UK’s most creative surfside towns, Newquay has a lot to offer on the community front too. Hop on a Beryl and pedal into town to check out the café culture, music nights, art scene and more, or get in the water for a taste of surf lifestyle and spirit.
